Album Review: Gallant – Ology
Gallant – Ology
Mind of a Genius Recordings
With many up -and- coming artists arriving to the scene, Gallant is by far, one of the most talented. This Maryland native raised the bar high for all artists to come with his debut album, “Ology”. With no exaggeration, this album could easily be up for many awards.
Gallant begins the collection with a dramatic tone in the intro track, “First”, yet brings the R&B vibes in the following songs, especially “Miyazaki”. This exotic- sounding track transitions into “Open Up”, where Gallant displays his skilled vocal talents. The easy- going and sexy beat compliments the high notes presented in this song, as well as many others on the album, such as the second track, “Talking to Myself”. A personal favorite is “Bourbon”, Track 4, with the smooth beat and soft vocal tones. Definitely consider taking a listen to “Skipping Stones”, a catchy duet between Gallant and Jhené Aiko, where amazing high notes are hit by this upcoming artist.
The music speaks to audiences through the melody. Considering Gallant is known as not only a singer, but songwriter as well, the music is raw. The album artwork says it all: it’s about Gallant, hence the portrait, and the emotions he’s expressing in the album. The frown face represented in gold catches the attention of the audience, hence the emotion that grasps the attention through the music.
Gallant will be the favorites of so many as he becomes known to the world. The raw talent of his will shine through each track listened to. No music fan will regret taking the time to listen to this album. There is no doubt the music industry will reward Gallant for this amazing compilation of his talent.
