New Music: Ardyn – Together
Ardyn are thrilled to announce details of a new single, their first new music of the year, and the first in a series of new releases for the young British duo.
‘Together’ was produced by Tourist, and is the sound of the young brother/sister Gloucestershire band finding a colourful new pop sensibility and running with it. The track is a confident statement of intent for 2017 and a fizzing, rhythmic, driving alt-pop song that switches through the gears effortlessly.
Listen to Together:
‘Together’ feels bold, a first proper step for a duo suitably out of step with whatever peers they’ll get lumped with. This is music that exists outside of a scene, as really good songs have a habit of doing.
Rob and Katy Pearson grew up in appreciation of the great outdoors. The internet wasn’t quite what it’s quickly become, and mobile phones weren’t yet smart enough to warrant staring at for hours a day. Their parents ran an independent ‘new age’ shop called Willow, all heady Indian incense and colourful, gleaming jewellery, and put on small-scale music festivals for the local enthusiasts.
Surrounded by a certain type of open-minded hedonist, Rob and Katy would find themselves hard-pushed not to be in some way wide of eyes and inadvertently influenced by their upbringing. There was a sense of adventure to all that rolling countryside and the liberal locale that sparked a creativity of their own. By the time they’d finished primary school, they had formed a band and started doing cover songs. By their mid-teens, they had started taking music seriously, shirking covers for their own attempts at songs which they then recorded to an old copy of Cubase their Dad had bought.
Now barely out of their teens, signed to Method Records, and with a handful of special, simmering ‘pop noir’ songs racking up serious streaming numbers, Rob and Katy are ready to send Ardyn soaring. It’s time to break sweat.
Having toured the UK in late 2016 with Wild Beasts and Lapsley, and sold out their debut headline show in London, Ardyn will spend much of 2017 on the road. Further dates to be announced imminently.
