Stream: Marco McKinnis – How I Feel
Among the most recent in R&B is the old soul of Marco McKinnis and his new single, “How I Feel.” Recently signed onto Republic Records, McKinnis proves his righteous worth with a love ballad that draws from elegance and patience. “How I Feel” is produced by fellow up-comer Medasin, who has also worked alongside artists like Masego, KRS, and josh pan. Meanwhile, McKinnis himself is gaining recognition from established names like Luke James, Chaz French, and Rex Orange County. Even more so, the release of McKinnis’s previous soundcloud single, “my own,” premiered quietly on Saint Heron, the website under Solange Knowles’ Saint Records label, specifically purposed for the uncovering of black indie risers in music culture. Despite McKinnis’s soaring online following, “How I Feel” is both the Virginian native’s first official release on Spotify and, more importantly, a dictation of the singer’s newly primed musical maturity. Fitting well into the romance-yearning songs of his soul genre predecessors, “How I Feel” begs for a lover’s attention—“I wish I could tell you baby / How much I feel for you”—as much as you will come to beg for more Marco McKinnis.
